A creative exploration of the elements of composing: form, rhythm, melody, harmony, and inspiration. Students will develop various types of compositions using art, notation, movement, and games. The final day of camp will be a sharing of students' individual and group work for family and friends. An exciting composition workbook is included in the tuition. Register now!

Piano Academy at Fort Lewis College

Location: Jones Hall, 1000 Rim Drive, Fort Lewis College campus, Durango

An exceptional opportunity for intermediate and advanced piano students to study piano technique and collaborative music. Daily private and group lessons will cover the skills of sight-reading, technique, ensemble playing, and more. On Thursday and Friday, students will join string players from Durango Chamber Music Academy to rehearse chamber ensemble pieces in preparation for a Friday performance. Students will receive music two months in advance and must be able to play assigned pieces with fluency on the first day of the academy. Required auditions will be held Friday, March 13, 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Jones Hall, FLC. Students should prepare one memorized piece that demonstrates technique and expression. A recording (at visual angle so that hands are visible) may be substituted for the audition. Register now!

An energetic experience in Orff-Schulwerk, theory games, and ensemble work. Students will enhance performance skills and musicianship through playful activities, utilizing their own instruments. Instrument not required. Camp will culminate in a Friday sharing for family and friends. Register now!
